Dear friends of Root Cause,

We are writing to you with exciting news.

In November 2016, Stephen Pratt, who for the past five years has served as a partner and leader in the consulting practice at Root Cause, will spin off part of Root Cause’s consulting practice into a new benefit corporation called Impact Catalysts.

Impact Catalysts will focus on strengthening the organizational effectiveness of mission-based organizations, with a particular focus on working with those moving into the mezzanine stage of organizational development.

For our clients—past, present and future—our top priority is maintaining the quality of our services. Stephen will continue to lead active consulting projects at Root Cause through December 2016. In addition, both Root Cause and Impact Catalysts are committed to an ongoing partnership, where knowledge and experience are mutually shared for the benefit of our clients.

The decision to move forward with the spinoff emerged through our experience implementing the business plan we developed in 2015. Root Cause will further focus our time and resources on the ways that we can partner with nonprofits, foundations, corporations, and government in their efforts to improve the lives of those who lack opportunity in health, education, and work. Through these partnerships, Root Cause will strive to promote and facilitate the use of data, evidence, and measurement to guide strategy and implementation. The spinoff represents a natural evolution of our strategy, and it reflects our respective areas of interest and expertise.

We look forward to talking with many of you over the coming months about our plans. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us if you have any questions.

Best regards,
